Fransalian Rural Development Society is a non-profit and Charitable Social Development Organization, founded by MSFS Fathers in Tamil Nadu. It is Registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1975 [Tamil Nadu Act27 of 1975.Registration no: 43/2004]..43/2004 June 22nd.Fransalian Rural Development Society known as FRDS. its aim is to promote total human development of the people, particularly all the deserving ones living in its service area. FRDS is serving without any bias to caste, creed, religion and linguistic groups. The motto of FRDS is To Break Barriers and to build humanity. The organizational affairs are fulfilled through a governing body headed by very Rev.Fr.k.Ingnacimuthu, the Provincial of South East India Province. Fr.Selvaraj is the secretary cum director of the organization. The service are being rendered according to the need felt necessary by the project committee. Importantly, small programs on development, computer education, Skill Training programs, and promotion of living conditions.
Background of target area and socio-economic background of target community:
The target area that Indira Nagar and Kuravar colony are located in Arimalam block of Pudukkottai district. It is 15 KM distance from the district headquarter. Soil of the area is lime graval mixed alkaline soil which not suitable for cultivation of any crop. Even dry crop like minor millet, gram and pulses. It is outskirt of the block headquarter. Different categories of people that Kuravar community, Koothadi community, Lepers family and hotel and restaurant workers are living in the area. They have no any sustainable livelihood. It is an isolated and excluded area where these people are settled two decades ago by the government giving housing patta. The Kuravar families are sheltered in group house constructed by the Government which are damaged partially and fully by the cyclone Gaja of 2018. Other community people lived in thatched huts which are completely damaged and roof of huts were thrown down.

All these people live in one place but in different streets according to the allotment given by the government. The Present situation of the people are in a very pathetic condition. Apart from this some common plots for the sanitation, social gathering, Irrigation and education purpose are allotted. In this we the Fransalian Karangal have received three plots for our social work and the tuition centre.
In the first phase the members of Fransalian Karangal have made a frequent visit and made a concrete study about the people and their core problems. As the result
1.They were provided the basic necessities through the help of our MSFS fathers and good hearted well wishers of the society.
2.Counselling was given to the people to cop-up the situation
3.Core problems were identified as the result the basic necessity of supplying drinking water was fulfilled by FRDS through digging of a bore well and water tank.
The other immediate needs are
1.A study centre for the school children to stop the drop outs from schooling
2.Promotion of Sanitation facility for the villagers
3.Economical skill development
4.Construction of low-cost housing for 20 cyclone Gaja affected families in Pudukkottai block
5.Tree plantation to promote eco-friendly atmosphere

Fransalian Centre for Education and Rural Development proposes to promote ecological harmony in Bharathi Nagar. After cyclone Gaja the place is completly empty without any trees. It is high time we encourage and promote the plantation of various trees in order to farm a healthy village.

3. Name of the Project:
Promotion of Sanitation facility for the villagers of remote village.
Description of the proposed project:
Fransalian Centre for Education and Rural Development proposes to promote sanitation facilities in the remote village of Pudukkottai block for the benefit of the poor people who have no individual sanitation facilities at all. Accordingly, a sanitary complex with water facility will be constructed. This sanitary complex will be maintained by a women SHGs of that village collecting Rs.1/- per person per usage. The collected amount will be used towards purchase of toilet cleaning powder and maintenance charge of bore well and electricity charges.
Objectives of the Project:
1.To promote community based toilet facility for the people of interior village.
2.To prevent open air defecation in the target village.
3.To promote environmental sanitation thereby protect health of the target community.

4. Name of the Project:
Eco-friendly cloth bags making training cum production project for abandoned women.
Description of the Proposed Project:
Fransalian Centre for Education and Rural Development proposes to conduct one month skill training for 40 abandoned women on eco-friendly cloth bags making to replace the plastic bags of all forms to protect the environment. after completion of the training, out of 40 trained women, 15 will be promoted into a women collective who will start and run the production unit and remaining 25 women will be supported with bank assistance to start production unit on their own at home. Fransalian Centre for Education and Rural Development will promoter market linkages for their finished products.
Objectives of the Project:
1.To impart skill training for abandoned women on eco-friendly cloth bags making.
2.To create sustainable livelihood with assured earnings for the target women.
3.To liberate the women and their families from extreme poverty

. Project title:
Economic Development Project for Narikuravars and Artisan for IGP activities through provision of micro credits.
Description of the Proposed Project:
Fransalian Centre for Education and Rural Development proposes to implement economic development project for Narikuravas and rural artisans who have lost their housing and belongings in Gaja cyclone stuck on November 2018 in Pudukkottai bloxk of Pudukkottai district. Accordingly, 25 Narikuravars and 25 artisans will be disbursed micro credit to do their business thereby enable them generate income to run their families relieving from indebtedness and extreme poverty. Each micro credit beneficiary will repay the loan by 10 monthly instalments together with 1% flat rate of service charges. Out of accumulated loan recovery amount. Fresh loans will be given to new persons to start their micro enterprises.
Objectives of the Project:
1.To disburse micro credit to rural artisans and Narikuravas to do their handicraft work.
2.To enable the target people to repay the loan by instalment out of income earned.
3.To support the target people to relieve from indebtedness and extreme poverty.

6. Project Name:
Construction of low-cost housing for 20 cyclone Gaja affected families in Pudukkottai block.
Description of the Project:
Fransalian Centre for Education and Rural Development proposes to provide low-cost housing for 20 poorest of the poor who are affected by cyclone Gaja of November, 2018 in Pudukkottai block. Accordingly, 20 low-cost housing each worth Rs.1,50,000/- will be constructed and handed over to the homeless people who have lost their housing in cyclone Gaja of 2018. During the construction of house building of the members of each family will contribute manual labour in order to minimize the construction cost.
1.To construct low cost housing for poorest of the poor families in Pudukkottai district.
2.To use the locally available building materials and construction of family member's manual labour
3.To provide permanent relief to the homeless people in the target area.
